Starting form the 1930s, the Marine Divison was the first to build cellular reinforced concrete caissons on a massive scale, setting its leading role in this particular field (2300 tanks have been built until now).
The skills and “know-how” for the building of the caissons, either circular or cellular, on fixed or floating installations, are present in many Italian projects (Genoa, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo, Taranto, Brindisi, Bari, Venice, Monfalcone and so on), and in the Mediterranean Sea (Fontvieille in the Principality of Monaco, Barcellona and Pasajes in Spain, Marsa El Brega in Libia, the Industrial Harbour of Jen-Jen in Algeria).

As part of the “joint venture” Condotte - Grandi Lavori Fincosit S.p.A. – Dragomar S.p.A., being assigned the works for the Ras Laffan Harbour (Qatar) and the export of liquefied natural gas on behalf of Qatar General Petroleum Corporation (QGPC), the Marine Divison of GLF was responsible for the whole project (from the general plan to the executive design) for the construction of all the docks (for GNL and liquid products; Ro-Ro/heavy loads, tag boats landing places, dry cargos, containers ) for the production of all the plain concrete for the breakwaters (in particular for the making of all Antifer artificial plain concrete rocks).
In Qatar the Sea Division has also successfully designed and implemented in a short time the Qafac dock from Methanol/MTBE to Mesaieed, and has built the installation for the sea draining.

GLF, as a member of the Venice New Cooperative, took an active part in the works for the protection of the town from the high water.
In March 2006 GLF signed with the Venice New Cooperative an agreement through which it undertook to be an active part with “MOSE” project for an amount of 632 millions of euros.
A number of other jobs in the Venice area can be mentioned among which the safeguard of the Venetian islands, specifically the complex works for the protection of S.Erasmo island (partially carried out with the support of Bocca di Lido Cooperative) the modernization of Cavallino and Iesolo coastal areas and the static and architectural recovering of the island of Lazzaretto Vecchio.

It is important to mention that our company is also engaged with the important interventions of land reclamation works in the industrial harbour of Marghera with the support of the Cooperative “T.S.I. 1” (with 90% of shares) and with the important protection works of the S. Marco in Venice (with the support of the Cooperative “Granda” with 70% of shares).
Finally, as a further confirmation of the great potentialities of our Company, we are glad to inform that the temporary Group made of Maersk – Grandi Lavori Fincosit S.p.A. and Technital S.p.A. was entitled with the design, building and running of the multifunctional platform on the harbour of Vado Ligure) and signed the Agreement with the Arbour Authorities of Savona on the 21st February 2008.

Within this project, the GLF will be engaged with the works for about 335 millions of Euros.
Among the main current and completed projects we can mention:

• MOSE: Interventions to protect Venice from high tides (still under construction);
• Project Financing regarding the design, building and running of the new logistic platform of the harbour of Taranto where Grandi Lavori Fincosit S.p.A. participates as a partner next to Itinera S.p.A. (under designing now);

The harbour stretches on the sea for about 3 Km, with two protection dams that are 5 Km. and 6,1 Km. long. The order was completed in 1996 for a total amount of more than 950 millions of dollars;
