Sea Works: Case History

Italy, Civitavecchia - Terminal Container’s docks E-mail

Civitavecchia harbour – Construction of the new terminal container’s docks in Civitavecchia harbour.
The works concerned the construction of the docks for the shipment of goods with a development of about 757 m and the under-billow pier to protect the sheet of water of 108 ml, both built with reinforced concrete cellular cassions. They were plunged at a depth of -15,00 after the clearing of the sea bottom by means of a suitable shaft made of tout-venant and riprap. The back area of the dock was filled with riprap on which some geotextile sheets were laid to avoid the leaking of the filling materials.
